Following the continued success of IQPC’s global bridges series, including three regional summits, we are delighted to announce the 4th Annual Bridges Middle East Summit will take place between 27 – 30 November 2011 in Doha, Qatar.

Government, transport authorities and developers in Qatar are continuing to invest widely in infrastructure projects, which have been accelerated following the announcement of the 2022 World Cup win. The Ministry of Municipal and Urban Planning, Qatar are implementing the Qatar National Master Plan and Qatar Transport Master Plan. They are in the early stages of developing the Doha Bay Crossing. Ashghal, Qatar’s Public Works Authority, has committed US $12 billion for road and infrastructure projects, which includes a significant number of bridges. Lusail City will contain numerous marina bridges and interchanges in order to connect the islands. All of the projects have been designed to take into account the rising population and aim to increase accessibility, reduce commute times and ease traffic congestion.

Throughout the Middle East, major bridge projects in construction include:

  • Kuwait Public Works Ministry – Doha Link Bridge, Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah Bridge and Subiya Causeway
  • Bahrain Ministry of Works - Isa Town Interchange, Mina Salman Interchange and North Manama Causeway
  • Tourism Development International Company (TDIC) - Hudayriat Bridge in Abu Dhabi
  • Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)- Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Crossing in Dubai and Dubai Smile
  • Muscat Municipality - Bridge Works in Oman
  • Saudi-Egyptian Business Council - Saudi-Egypt Causeway
